Happy

I am a kind of paranoid in reverse. I suspect people of plotting to make me happy.
~ J. D. Salinger

Defining your own success

I learned this, at least, by my experiment: that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours. He will put some things behind, will pass an invisible boundary; new, universal, and more liberal laws will begin to establish themselves around and within him; or the old laws be expanded, and interpreted in his favor in a more liberal sense, and he will live with the license of a higher order of beings. In proportion as he simplifies his life, the laws of the universe will appear less complex, and solitude will not be solitude, nor poverty poverty, nor weakness weakness. If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them.
~ Henry David Thoreau

New start

One must be thrust out of a finished cycle in life, and that leap is the most difficult to make-to part with one’s faith, one’s love, when one would prefer to renew the faith and recreate the passion.

~ Anaïs Nin

Make me laugh

Among those whom I like or admire, I can find no common denominator, but among those whom I love, I can; all of them make me laugh.
― W.H. Auden

Don’t do nothing

It is the greatest of all mistakes to do nothing because you can only do little – do what you can.”

~ Sydney Smith

The power of collaboration

If you have an apple and I have an apple and we exchange apples then you and I will still each have one apple. But if you have an idea and I have an idea and we exchange these ideas, then each of us will have two ideas.
~ George Bernard Shaw

Pursue the things you love

You can only be truly accomplished at something you love. Don’t make money the goal. Instead, pursue the things you love doing and do them so well that people can’t take their eyes off you. All the other tangible rewards will come as a result.
~ Maya Angelou
