What I’m reading now

I belong to two book clubs that read a variety of books, and between those books read other fiction books for pleasure, and non-fiction to find out things that intrigue me.

The Cellist of Sarajevo

I’m part way through this book and finding it fascinating. Many books have discussed the effect war has on ordinary people, and this more contemporary study is fascinating.

The Help

A book club read for December. I wasn’t sure how much I would relate to stories of Southern women with help, but the universal themes of the depths of friendship and the maliciousness of people were immediately familiar. I devoured this book and couldn’t wait to read the next chapter. I mentioned I was reading it, and it was suggested I re-read The Secret Life of Bees, being set in the south at a similar time.
